Hi. I live in Nerul, Navi mumbai. Eco friendly Ganesh idols are not available in Nerul, I usually get it for my house from outside. I want to start a drive in Nerul urging people to buy eco-friendly idols this year, but they are just not available, and I don’t know whom to approach to make them available in bulk at a relatively reasonable rate. Can you help please?

Shri./Chi. Vikram: namaskaar-s… Wonderful blog.. I’m fortunate to come across it. I want to ask you about Dhundhiraj Ganapati Mandir in Wadi Area of Baroda, Gujurat (Valsad or Vadodara). Do you have clear photographs of the same? It’s built by Maharashtrians about 160 years ago. as my family is going to start celebrtating the ganesh chaturthi festival from this year i just have 1 question – if we start celebrating the festival from this year is it like a compulsory rule that w should celebrate it next year coz my family is doing this coz i want to and if i am nt with them the next year they wont be able to do it—kindly answer this question ,waiting for ur reply.
Very nice work. But please tell me about the practice of worshipping of the home idol by some people during ganesh chaturthi intead of getting a ganpati idol and then doing the visarjan thereafter. Is this a modern practice or an old one. Please enlighten the viewers.

since you have taken up the cause of improvisation of ganesh mandal objectives and improvement and relevant changes therein ,I would put on record some suggestions which may give some new direction to the public in eliminating the tricks played and practiced by political leaders and all public feels they are DUPED!!!!!
1.most popular ready recknor of corruption is checking of vehicle documents by traffic police from anybody at any given time.
An educative model depicting “only checking of smart cards of driving license “by a facility similar to credit card can give a sigh of releief for all the two and four wheeler commuters.and the checking of documents and insurance be done only when driver is caught breaking the rule!!both present and the new system comparison can make effect on public opinion
2.Another model of road repairing authority and their contracters
present hush hush between them resulting into bad roads,
and in contrast with this,a suitable model to be displayed as “CROSS CHECKING BY LOCAL CORPORATOR ABOUT THIS NEXUS BETWEEN THE AUTHORITIES AND CONTRACTOR and catching them red handed”and Result is GOOD ROADS ALL THE TIME!!!!
3.A national project for water conservation of Rainwater draining out to sea, to be collected along the coastal line of every state, before, where the rivers join the sea.and to be caught in a huge canal of 2 KM width and 100 feet deep underground canal dug ,25 kilometers inside the coastal line of India
This will overcome entire shortage of water once for all, for the Indian states.I can help the people who are interested in making such model for display during this GANESH FESTIVAL

Hi viKRAM, great work and contribution in Ganesh Mandal. Thank you for your blog. I am searching for some information on Ganesh Idols and puja practice.
I wish to know, what is the right orientation of Ganesh Idol during this special “Ganesh Chaturthi” time? Many suggest that the idol should be placed in east and north direction, but completely misses out the orientation of idol.
This is my first time to set-up Ganesh Idol and hence sincerely and religiously wish to follow all steps in Ganesh Puja-archana.
I shall be grateful to your any suggestion or comment from experts.
