Here is your chance to speak to Lord Ganesha. Recyclekaro, a social enterprise comprising a group of friends, has prepared an interactive voice response (IVR) system, where devotees can call the number 022-61243535 and listen to lord Ganesha’s profound words.

Recyclekaro sought the help of voiceover artists to prepare the IVR. After several test rounds, sound artist Vinaya Kudva’s voice was finalized and recorded for the IVR. The artist impersonating Lord Ganesha speaks to callers on various issues pertaining to Ganesh Chaturthi. In the last three days, 6,000 people have already called this number. Only normal call charges are applicable for each call.

In the IVR, Lord Ganesha informs callers of the effects of air, water and noise pollution and ways to mitigate the damages done to the environment.

Nearly 40 members of Recyclekaro, whose office is located in Mahape, are involved in the project.

“We want people from every nook and corner of the city to listen to our IVR. We have also updated our website,” said Rajesh Gupta.

This website provides devotees various ideas and guidelines to celebrate the festival in an eco-friendly way. What began with minor campaigns to encourage devotees to switch to eco-friendly Ganpati idols in 2010 has now metamorphosed into a major drive, using technology.

The website has a number of videos, too. They use their database and contacts on social networking sites to further spread the word about
